Wu wei is "the art of non-doing" derived from Taoist traditions. "Skillful action with the least amount of effort." We remove the struggle of 'the doing' in our actions through practice of calm, easeful, observation before responding to Life. We'll test-drive 'wu wei' in our Yin Yoga practice by stepping out of our often more brain-centric nature for a more objective, meditative approach to tease out hardwired 'doing'. Even in the midst of Yin's deceptively slow poses our Western conditioning of purpose can creep in. Suddenly we wonder are we doing the pose right? Achieving enough? Attaining 'something'? To abide in the spirit of wu wei is a welcome and new gift, and for many, offers surprising healing benefits within both our practice and our lives when we choose to explore, and refine, The Way of Wu Wei.
