Unpacking Chaturanga; Mechanics of the Asana
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Perhaps the most ubiquitous, yet still mystifying, poses in the modern day yoga class is the chaturanga, which has garnered quite the reputation: "It's a heat builder, it's a strength based posture, it can be dangerous, it's useless, it's crucial, it's what makes a vinyasa flow… It's the shoulder shredder, the widow maker…"

Chaturanga can be a phenomenal opportunity for full body engagement, energetic unfolding and a physical manifestation of resolve and attention. Let's reclaim this shape and learn to work with it, not around it.
In this workshop we will break down the elements of a successful and healthy asana. We will learn the biomechanics of the shape, technical drills and warm ups, modifications and how to truly embody this complicated asana. Some movement, some discussion, lots of opportunity for questions and knowledge bombs.

Clarify Your Life Force
Limited Capacity filling up

Yin Yoga's principles draw on two ancient healing systems – Hatha Yoga & Qi Gong – both harmonizing & sensitizing awareness for the inner terrain of our body/mind while moving prana/qi energy through your 3 major nadis/12 meridians to clear congestion, stagnation or excess. Become more acquainted with these inner pathways through visualization, pranayama and asana to access the benefits of improved health, clarity, calm & well-being. We'll move during the asanas between yin & yang – counterbalancing the still with the dynamic and vice versa – exploring Yin Yoga's energetic approach to practice. Leave more spacious, clear-minded and intrigued with the ancients' wisdom!

Ashtanga Yoga: Led Primary Series
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

The primary series is a challenging and invigorating sequence of postures threaded together by vinyasas or counted movements linking the postures with the breath. The postures are strengthening, toning and cleansing for the muscles, joints and internal organs.

During the primary led classes, students are guided in unison through the postures of the sequence: sun salutations, standing postures, seated postures, closing backbends and inversions. Students will be provided with variations of poses that will prove challenging. The class includes postures, breathing, pranayama and chanting.

The Ashtanga Yoga system is a living lineage that dates back nearly five thousand years in an unbroken line of teachers, sages and gurus that has reached millions of practitioners through the inspirational life of Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois. It is now continued and honored by his son Manju Pattabhi Jois, his daughter Saraswati, his grandson R. Sharath Jois and every Ashtanga teacher and practitioner today. Jois, or Guruji as he was affectionally called by his students, continued the lineage of these teachings in Mysore, India and all around the world and it is through his lifelong dedication that we have the gift of Ashtanga yoga today. Bibi teaches yoga in Jois lineage and is happy to connect you with this ancient wisdom towards health and happiness too.

**For this occasion Bibi will be adding an element of live percussion music as a gentle background. This will enable students to hold their focus and have a better inner experience of the practice. Live music will be provided by her partner Walker Adams.

The Way of Wu Wei
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Wu wei is "the art of non-doing" derived from Taoist traditions. "Skillful action with the least amount of effort." We remove the struggle of 'the doing' in our actions through practice of calm, easeful, observation before responding to Life. We'll test-drive 'wu wei' in our Yin Yoga practice by stepping out of our often more brain-centric nature for a more objective, meditative approach to tease out hardwired 'doing'. Even in the midst of Yin's deceptively slow poses our Western conditioning of purpose can creep in. Suddenly we wonder are we doing the pose right? Achieving enough? Attaining 'something'? To abide in the spirit of wu wei is a welcome and new gift, and for many, offers surprising healing benefits within both our practice and our lives when we choose to explore, and refine, The Way of Wu Wei.

Druminyasa:Healing Heart Flow
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Feel the rhythms of the drums as you connect breath, heartbeat, and mind with the healing instincts of your body. Allow yourself to be embraced by the nurturing sounds of the drumbeat so closely resembling the echo of the heartbeat; until the two become one. Guided by that instinctual rhythm; that very first sound that we heard as we took on the form of life within the womb, we will explore the beauty of the external landscapes of the mountains while navigating our internal landscapes. As we partake in this experience, we remain open to infinite possibilities of healing from the inside out. Join Becky "Tara" Eschenroeder of Great Abiding Yoga and Brad Ellsworth of Druminyasa for a heart healing primal flow; stripping away the distractions of everyday life, we will get back to basics, cultivating our ever present and universal truth and healing energy that lies within.

Organizing Chaos, a Posture Lab
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

We are forged in the crucible of trauma. Our bodies: simply a response to the demands put upon them; the pushes, pulls, stresses, loads, and abrasions of all sorts. We are organized along the lines drawn into tension by every step we take. Every movement, every stance, every shape and transition ripples through us and leaves its imprint. We are a beautiful and complicated outcome of all we persevere. While this permeates each of our layers, from the most subtle, outward - we will look at the body. In this asana lab, we will bring this - growth as a response to trauma - eye to the sticky places. As a group we will examine where we feel restricted, bound up, unable to reach, and explore new strategies to move more freely and practice as our whole selves. Bring on your least favorite shapes, your arch nemesis of Asana and together we'll take a methodical and layered approach to unpacking what's held within.

Yin Yoga Meets Metta Meditation
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Yin Yoga is a perfect canvas for meditative contemplation like Metta, which the ancients' define as a compassion practice. By slowing down the speed with which we practice asana we linger a while...in stillness... over time...with awareness...key principles of Yin Yoga. We become more attuned to our inner dialogue...the truth of distractions...compulsions or aversions...judgements about ourselves or others. Studies show negativity begets more negativity. A metta practice is a remarkably healing undertaking to redirect less than positive thoughts. Intertwine Metta with meditative Yin Yoga asanas to awaken the compassion spigot; towards ourselves, our relationships, our communities & ultimately towards the Planet, boosting acceptance and embrace, lessening strife and reactivity. Become more adept at filling your own well...then reach out to others. Join us for this fusion of introspective, practices gifted from the ancients.

Issues in the Tissues: Fascial Fitness and Yoga
Limited Capacity filling up

This class looks at how a yoga practice influences the fascia and the health and resilience of the connective tissue. This class starts with a lecture and moves into a yoga practice that involves both movement and stillness putting the information into action. The lecture component of this class breaks down the ways a yoga practice can help remodel the fascial tissues and the ways we can work with or against the natural tendencies of these tissues. You'll get a chance to experience these changes in a yoga practice to feel for yourself the effects your practice can have on the fascia and how to make the best use of this knowledge on your mat and in your life. The yoga practice explores several different styles, please have some vinyasa experience but no need to be an expert.
