This fresh air invigorating hike will lead you to the Fire Tower located on Cheat Ridge. The climb is always worth the vista. This 3mi out and back trip will get your heart rate up and your senses engaged. Be ready for variable temperatures and shade on and off.

Appalachian forests are some of the most biodiverse in the world. They contain the food, medicines, and materials that have nourished, healed, and sustained people for millennia. Stroll through the woods to appreciate the lore and beauty of Appalachian plants and fungi. Your guide will point out edible and medicinal plants and share stories about their traditional and modern uses. Learn about and experience the healing power of seeking wild plants in the woods.

These mountains have stories to tell if you're willing to listen. This is a hike of lore and exploration into West Virginias historical past. Once home to the largest and oldest Red Spruce population in North America, Cheat Ridge runs fifty miles long and begins right in Snowshoe's backyard. This hike is and out and back meandering along the starting tributary of the Shavers Fork Headwaters, and for 1.5 mi gently ascends old railroad grade to the summit of Cheat
Ridge.

A mix of moss covered woods, back country camp sites and fire roads lead to a magical cabin in the woods. Breath in the Appalachian air as you take your time exploring Snowshoe Back country. Bring a snack to enjoy on the deck. This is an up and back trip with time to relax throughout.
